The OnePlus 15R is set to launch on December 17th, promising a blend of high-end features and exceptional battery life. Here's a comprehensive overview of what you can expect from this upcoming device.

Launch Date and Availability

The OnePlus 15R will be officially unveiled on December 17th at a livestreamed event in Bengaluru, India. The device will be available for purchase on Amazon.in, the OnePlus India store, and through authorized offline retailers. The launch event will also feature the OnePlus Pad Go 2.

Battery

One of the most highlighted features of the OnePlus 15R is its large 7,400mAh battery. This is the largest battery ever included in a OnePlus phone, surpassing even the OnePlus 15's 7,300mAh battery. OnePlus claims that the battery is designed for extended use, ensuring it retains at least 80% of its original capacity after four years of use. It also supports 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging. The battery incorporates Silicon Nanostack technology, which includes 15% silicon content in the anode to improve energy density and durability.

Chipset and Performance

The OnePlus 15R will be the first smartphone globally to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 mobile platform. OnePlus has indicated that they co-developed and co-optimized this platform with Qualcomm over a 24-month period. A Geekbench listing revealed the phone will have 12GB of RAM and run on Android 16, likely with OxygenOS 16. The phone scored 2,846 in the single-core test and 9,775 in the multi-core test. The device is also expected to feature a custom G2 Wi-Fi chip and a touch response chip.

Display

The OnePlus 15R features a 165Hz 1.5K AMOLED display, which is the same panel used in the OnePlus 15. The display has a pixel density of 450 PPI and a brightness range that can adjust from 1,800 nits peak brightness down to as low as 1 nit when using the "Reduce White Point" feature. The display also has TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification.

Camera

The OnePlus 15R will support 4K video recording at 120 frames per second, a feature that was previously exclusive to the flagship OnePlus 15. The device is expected to feature a dual rear camera system, with rumors suggesting a 50MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The OnePlus 15R will also include OnePlus’ DetailMax Engine, offering Ultra Clear Mode, Clear Burst, and Clear Night Engine for enhanced photo quality.

Other Features

The OnePlus 15R will support Plus Mind, OnePlus's proprietary AI technology designed to simplify data management. Users can send screen content to Plus Mind via a "Plus Key" tap for analysis, which can then assist in creating calendar invites and retrieving data. The phone is also expected to have IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings.

Expected Price

While the official pricing hasn't been confirmed, the OnePlus 15R is expected to be priced around ₹42,999, similar to the launch price of the OnePlus 13R in India. Some reports suggest the price could be around Rs. 55,990 for the base variant.

With its combination of a large battery, powerful chipset, high-refresh-rate display, and advanced camera capabilities, the OnePlus 15R aims to deliver a premium smartphone experience at a competitive price point.
