Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company valued at $183 billion, is significantly expanding its global operations to meet the increasing international demand for its Claude AI models. The company plans to triple its international workforce and increase its applied AI team fivefold in the coming year. This expansion is driven by the remarkable surge in global demand for its Claude AI models, especially outside the United States.

Nearly 80% of Claude's usage now originates from outside the U.S., with particularly high per-person usage rates in countries like South Korea, Australia, and Singapore. This international interest reflects a growing customer base, which has expanded from under 1,000 to over 300,000 business customers in just two years. Fueling this growth, Anthropic's run-rate revenue has soared to over $5 billion by August 2025, a significant increase from approximately $1 billion at the start of the year.

To support this global expansion, Anthropic is opening new offices in key locations. This includes its first Asian office in Tokyo, along with additional offices in Europe, specifically in Dublin, London, and Zurich. The company plans to hire over 100 new employees across these European locations. Anthropic is also actively recruiting for country leads in regions such as India, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, and Singapore.

This strategic move signifies Anthropic's ambition to solidify its position as a leader in the global AI landscape. Chris Ciauri, the newly appointed Managing Director of International at Anthropic, emphasized the extraordinary global demand for Claude, noting that enterprises from financial services in London to manufacturing in Tokyo are relying on Claude to power their critical operations. He stated that this is a crucial moment for Anthropic to expand its infrastructure and partnerships to serve its growing international customer base.

Anthropic's Claude models are recognized as some of the most powerful on the market, particularly excelling at coding. This has led to successful integrations with major platforms, including a recent deal with Microsoft to incorporate Claude models into its Copilot assistant. Furthermore, companies like Novo Nordisk are leveraging Claude to significantly reduce analysis and reporting times in drug development, showcasing the practical benefits of Anthropic's AI solutions.

Anthropic's global expansion is taking place alongside increasing competition in the enterprise AI market, with major players like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google also expanding their international operations. Anthropic aims to differentiate itself by directly offering its cutting-edge Claude model to enterprise customers, meeting the demand for advanced AI solutions beyond basic add-on tools. The company is also focused on establishing a comprehensive customer support system to cater to the needs of regulated industries and remove obstacles to technology adoption for businesses.
