Elon Musk expressed his enthusiasm on X (formerly Twitter) for a motorcade escorting former US President Donald Trump in Doha, Qatar, which prominently featured Tesla Cybertrucks. The Tesla CEO reposted a video showcasing the presidential motorcade moving through Qatar's capital, led by two Cybertruck vehicles with red hoods. Trump is currently on a Middle East tour aimed at strengthening business ties in the region. Qatar is his second stop after Saudi Arabia, with the tour concluding in the United Arab Emirates. The Qatari government gave Air Force One an eight-fighter jet escort into their airspace. They also offered Trump the use of a luxury Boeing 747-8 as a temporary Air Force One. Dozens of camels also lined the streets of Doha as Trump's motorcade arrived.
Qatar appears to have a fondness for the Cybertruck, even before Trump's visit. In late December, social media posts from the country suggested that two Cybertrucks were being used as part of the Internal Security Force's (Lekhwiya) patrol fleet. These futuristic all-electric pickup trucks have also been spotted in several other areas of the country. The Qatar Ministry of Interior also posted a video featuring Unplugged Performance CEO Ben Schaffer, who noted that UP.FIT will be providing modified Cybertrucks for the country. Unplugged Performance and the Ministry of Interior have signed a Letter of Intent to pave the way for UP.FIT Cybertrucks to be made for Qatar.
Trump's earlier reception in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, included a golf-cart ride with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and a motorcade flanked by riders on white Arabian horses. Several tech leaders, including Elon Musk, OpenAI chief Sam Altman, and senior executives from other major US companies, gathered in Saudi Arabia for a high-level lunch aimed at securing business with the kingdom's investors, enterprises, and government, as well as addressing new US trade policies and tariffs.
Trump signed a "strategic economic partnership" with Saudi Arabia for energy, defense, mining, and space-based agreements worth $600 billion. Trump also signed a series of agreements with Qatar, including a purchasing agreement by Qatar for Boeing aircraft, as well as letters of intent and "joint cooperation" between Qatar and the U.S.
