Lenskart is set to revolutionize the smart glasses market with its upcoming B Camera Smartglasses, integrating seamless UPI (Unified Payments Interface) payments directly into the wearable technology. Unveiled at the Global Fintech Festival (GFF) 2025, this innovative feature will allow users to make transactions by simply scanning a QR code with their smart glasses, eliminating the need for a smartphone or PIN. The launch of the B Camera Smartglasses is expected in the coming months.
The B Camera Smartglasses seamlessly blend advanced eyewear design with user-friendly operation. The direct UPI functionality aims to make smart glasses a more integral part of daily life by integrating payments. The glasses securely link to the user's bank account, enabling authentication and payment completion through voice commands. This eliminates the need for manual PIN entry during purchases.
The UPI payment feature is based on NPCI's (National Payments Corporation of India) UPI Circle feature, which ensures secure and real-time digital payments via wearables. The smart glasses will be linked to the user's bank account as per UPI regulations. Users can authorize transactions with voice commands, such as saying "Pay Rs. 500". The glasses will instantly display payment confirmation, making the entire process hands-free.
Peyush Bansal, Chairman, CEO & Co-founder of Lenskart, emphasized the evolving role of smart glasses in everyday life. He stated that integrating payments into the camera of smart glasses is intended to create a seamless payment method.
Beyond UPI payments, Lenskart's B Camera Smartglasses boast a range of advanced features. These include a POV (point of view) camera, AI-powered assistance, and real-time notifications. Lenskart's move highlights the rapid advancements in wearable technology and digital payments in India. This innovation strengthens Lenskart's position at the intersection of fashion, technology, and convenience.
