Xiaomi Introduces Redmi A5 with Unisoc Chip for Budget Indian Consumers

Xiaomi has launched its latest entry-level smartphone, the Redmi A5, in India on April 15, 2025, targeting budget-conscious consumers. The Redmi A5 aims to deliver essential features and a smooth user experience at an affordable price point. The device will be available for purchase starting April 16, 2025, via Flipkart, Mi.com, authorized Xiaomi retail partners, and offline stores across the country.

The Redmi A5 features a 6.88-inch HD+ IPS LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The display also boasts TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free operation, and circadian-friendly viewing, ensuring comfortable usage during extended periods.

Under the hood, the Redmi A5 is powered by a 1.8GHz octa-core UNISOC T7250 processor, coupled with a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU. It comes in two memory configurations: 3GB or 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM, with up to 128GB of internal storage. The device also supports microSD card expansion up to 2TB, providing ample space for storing media and files.

In terms of software, the Redmi A5 runs on the latest Android 15, offering a modern user interface and enhanced security features. Xiaomi promises two major OS updates and four years of security patch updates for the device.

For photography, the Redmi A5 sports a 32-megapixel primary rear camera with an f/2.0 aperture, accompanied by a secondary sensor and an LED flash. The front-facing camera features an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calls. Both front and rear cameras support 1080p video recording at 30fps.

Connectivity options on the Redmi A5 include dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BDS. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and FM Radio support.

The Redmi A5 is equipped with a 5,200mAh battery and supports 15W charging via a USB Type-C port. A 15W charger is included in the box.

The Redmi A5 is available in three color options: Jaisalmer Gold, Just Black, and Pondicherry Blue. The pricing is set at Rs 6,499 for the 3GB RAM + 64GB storage variant and Rs 7,499 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.
