Samsung has officially launched its Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic in India, bringing a blend of refined design, advanced health tracking features, and the power of artificial intelligence to the wrists of Indian consumers. The new smartwatches were unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, 2025, alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 foldable phones.

Design and Display:

The Galaxy Watch 8 series introduces a fresh "squircle" design, with a circular dial set within a square-ish case. Samsung states the Galaxy Watch 8 is the thinnest and most comfortable watch in its lineup, with an 11% slimmer profile compared to its predecessor. It incorporates a cushion shape and dynamic lug bands for a more secure and comfortable fit.

The Galaxy Watch 8 is available in 40mm and 44mm sizes, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic comes in a single 46mm variant. Both models boast Super AMOLED displays with a pixel density of 327ppi and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, ensuring excellent visibility even in bright sunlight. The 40mm and 46mm variants feature 1.34-inch screens with a resolution of 438x438 pixels, while the 44mm model sports a 1.47-inch display with 480x480 pixels resolution.

The Galaxy Watch 8 utilizes an aluminum case with a Sapphire glass coating, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic features a stainless steel frame and the return of the popular rotating bezel. The Classic model also includes a Quick Button for easy access to apps and features. Color options for the Galaxy Watch 8 include Graphite and Silver, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is available in Black and White.

Performance and Features:

Under the hood, the Galaxy Watch 8 series is powered by Samsung's new Exynos W1000 chipset, built on a 3nm process. The regular Galaxy Watch 8 comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, while the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic doubles the storage to 64GB. Both models run on Wear OS 6, with Samsung's One UI 8 Watch interface.

A key highlight of the new smartwatches is the integration of Google's Gemini AI assistant. This allows users to perform various tasks using natural voice commands, such as finding nearby cafes, texting friends, or starting workouts. The Galaxy Watch 8 series also introduces a new "Now Bar," similar to that found on the Galaxy S25 series, providing quick access to important information and notifications.

Health and Fitness Tracking:

The Galaxy Watch 8 series continues Samsung's focus on health tracking, with a range of sensors capable of monitoring heart rate, blood pressure, ECG, sleep patterns, stress levels, and body composition. New additions include Bedtime Guidance, which measures your circadian rhythm to suggest optimal sleep times, and Vascular Load, which monitors stress levels on your vascular system during sleep. The watches also introduce the Antioxidant Index, a feature that measures carotenoid levels in five seconds.

For fitness enthusiasts, the Galaxy Watch 8 series offers personalized fitness insights and a Running Coach feature that assesses your fitness level and creates tailored training plans. The updated Together feature allows users to gamify their fitness journey by challenging friends and family. The watches also include high-stress alerts and dual-frequency GPS for improved tracking accuracy.

Pricing and Availability:

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series is now available for pre-order in India, with general availability starting on July 25. The pricing for the Bluetooth-only variants is ₹32,999 for the 40mm Galaxy Watch 8 and ₹35,999 for the 44mm model. The LTE versions are priced at ₹36,999 and ₹39,999, respectively.
