Google's Veo 3, the tech giant's most advanced AI video generation model, has officially arrived in India, bringing its capabilities to users through the Gemini app. This rollout, which began recently, makes Veo 3 accessible to Gemini AI Pro subscribers in India and across all countries where the Gemini app is available.
Veo 3 allows users to create realistic, high-quality eight-second videos complete with audio. The model can generate synthesized speech for characters, and enhance scenes using background music and sound effects. This addition of sound distinguishes Veo 3 from its predecessors, marking a significant step forward in AI video generation.
The availability of Veo 3 in India follows its initial unveiling at Google I/O a few weeks prior, where it garnered attention for its ability to produce engaging and imaginative videos. Examples of the videos that have gone viral since its launch include reimagining historical events through the eyes of a modern influencer and exploring the sound of cutting through a glass apple.
To access Veo 3, users need a Google AI Pro subscription. Previously known as the Gemini Advanced plan, the Google AI Pro plan provides access to Google's most capable AI models, including Gemini 2.5 Pro, Deep Research, and now, Veo 3.
Josh Woodward, VP at Google Labs and the Gemini app, has stated that Pro users initially receive three "Veo 3 Fast" video generations per day. After exhausting these initial generations, users can continue creating videos using Veo 2 until the limit resets the following day. The "Veo 3 Fast" model prioritizes speed while maintaining a 720p resolution. For users seeking higher limits and exclusive access to the most advanced reasoning model ("2.5 Pro Deep Think") and Veo 3, Google offers the Google AI Ultra plan.
Google has emphasized its commitment to responsible AI development and deployment with Veo 3. The company has implemented several safety measures, including extensive "red teaming" and evaluations to prevent the generation of harmful or misleading content. All videos created using Veo 3 will feature a visible watermark and an embedded, invisible digital SynthID watermark, clearly indicating that the content is AI-generated. User feedback is also being actively solicited through thumbs up/down buttons to facilitate ongoing improvements.
The rollout of Veo 3 is being conducted gradually across 159 countries. Google is also working on incorporating image-to-video capabilities within the Gemini app, similar to Whisk Animate, and adding speech to these generations. Further developments include support for Workspace accounts and more informative error messages in Flow, Google's AI filmmaking tool designed for crafting cinematic scenes and narratives.
With the launch of Veo 3 in India, Google aims to empower users to unleash their creativity and explore the possibilities of AI-generated video content. The integration of audio, combined with the safety measures and continuous improvements, positions Veo 3 as a significant advancement in the field of AI video creation.
