Samsung has launched its newest mid-range contender, the Galaxy M36 5G, in India. The device boasts a blend of impressive features, including a Samsung Exynos 1380 chipset, a vibrant AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a versatile camera system.
The Galaxy M36 5G features a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, providing sharp visuals with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and enhanced responsiveness, making it ideal for gaming and multimedia consumption. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, offering robust scratch and damage resistance. However, the M36 uses an older U-shaped notch for the selfie camera, which some might consider a step down from the M35's hole-punch design.
Under the hood, the Galaxy M36 5G is powered by Samsung's Exynos 1380 chipset. This octa-core processor, coupled with Mali-G68 MP5 GPU, delivers a capable performance for everyday tasks and gaming. The phone comes with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via a microSD card. The Galaxy M36 5G runs on Android 15 with Samsung's One UI 7. Samsung promises six major Android updates and six years of security updates for the device. Select Galaxy AI features are also included, such as Circle to Search, Object Eraser, Image Clipper, and Edit Suggestion.
In terms of photography, the Galaxy M36 5G sports a triple-camera setup on the rear. The primary camera is a 50MP wide-angle lens with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for sharper, shake-free images and videos. It is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP macro lens for versatile shooting options. A 13MP front camera sits within the U-notch for selfies and video calls. Both front and rear cameras support 4K video recording at 30fps.
The Galaxy M36 5G is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging. While the battery capacity is a downgrade from the Galaxy M35's 6,000mAh battery, the phone is lighter, weighing 198g compared to the M35's 220g. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.
The Samsung Galaxy M36 5G is available in three colors: Orange Haze, Velvet Black, and Serene Green. It will be available for purchase starting July 12, 2025, through Amazon India, Samsung India's website, and select retail stores.
The base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at INR 16,499 (approximately $270 USD). While the exact pricing for other configurations hasn't been officially revealed, reports suggest an 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model will cost INR 17,999 and the top-end 8GB RAM + 256GB model will be priced at INR 20,999. During the launch period, Samsung is offering a bank discount that brings the starting price down to INR 16,499.
