Sony has expanded its Bravia TV lineup in India with the launch of the new Bravia 5 series. The new series comes after the recent release of the Bravia 8 II series. The Bravia 5 series comes in 55″, 65″, 75″, and 85″ screen sizes. These models are now available across Sony Centers, major electronic stores, and e-commerce portals in India.
The TVs are powered by the Advanced AI Processor XR, which uses artificial intelligence and cognitive intelligence to analyze and process content based on human visual and auditory perception. This approach aims to deliver more natural images and improved picture quality. The series also includes XR Backlight Master Drive technology that provides brighter highlights and deeper blacks for a wider dynamic range. The XR Triluminos Pro reproduces over a billion colors to provide accurate hues and shades, while the XR Clear Image leverages AI to refine colors and increase image sharpness. XR Motion Clarity optimizes motion handling for smooth and clear fast-moving scenes.
The Bravia 5 series features 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) LCD panels with Mini LED backlighting, local dimming technology, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Mini LED technology divides the screen into independent dimming zones, allowing for precise picture light control. Compared to regular LCD TVs, this Mini LED magnifies details and reduces halo effects. The TVs support HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision.
The Bravia 5 series includes Studio Calibrated Mode to deliver images as content creators originally designed them. It supports Netflix Adaptive Calibrated Mode, Sony Pictures Core Calibrated Mode, and introduces Prime Video Calibrated Mode, which optimizes picture quality for movies, series, and live sports. The Sony Pictures Core feature offers access to Sony Pictures movies in high image quality and enhanced formats.
For audio, the Bravia 5 series includes Acoustic Multi-Audio, which uses Sound Positioning Tweeters and dual down-firing speakers to deliver spatial audio. Voice Zoom 3™ is an AI-powered audio processing that isolates and clarifies human voices. The lineup supports PS5 enhancements, such as Auto HDR Tone Mapping. The series offers a 40W total audio output through a four-speaker system with support for Dolby Audio, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and DTS Digital Surround. It comes with Room and User Position Acoustic Calibration and 3D Surround Upscaling.
The Bravia 5 series includes a Game Menu 2 that allows users to adjust settings such as Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Auto HDR Tone Mapping for gaming. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, eARC, VRR, ALLM, and SBTM, two USB ports, built-in Chromecast, Apple AirPlay, and HomeKit support. They also have support for four HDMI 2.1 ports, which are said to support 4K video output at a 120Hz refresh rate.
