Deutsche Telekom and NVIDIA have joined forces to construct a cutting-edge AI cloud platform designed specifically for German businesses, marking a significant leap forward in the modernization of Germany's industrial sector and solidifying Europe's position in the global AI landscape. The collaboration, slated for implementation by 2026, aims to provide a secure, sovereign, and high-performance computing infrastructure to accelerate the adoption of AI across various industries.

This initiative involves NVIDIA supplying 10,000 advanced GPUs, including DGX B200 systems and RTX Pro Servers, which will be integrated into Deutsche Telekom's existing data centers. Deutsche Telekom will manage the infrastructure, operations, sales, security, and AI solutions, ensuring adherence to European data protection and security standards. This commitment strengthens European industry while promoting Europe's technological sovereignty. The platform will support industrial AI workloads, enabling European manufacturers to advance simulation-first, AI-driven manufacturing. Customers will gain access to NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries, RTX, and Omniverse-accelerated workloads from leading software vendors such as Siemens, Ansys, Cadence, and Rescale.

The AI cloud platform is envisioned as a catalyst for innovation, empowering businesses to develop and deploy AI solutions in areas such as design, engineering, simulation, digital twins, and robotics. By providing access to state-of-the-art AI tools and infrastructure, the partnership seeks to level the playing field, enabling small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to compete with larger corporations in the AI era. Approximately 900 German start-ups have already joined the NVIDIA Inception program, which grants innovative firms access to AI resources from NVIDIA.

The project is considered a crucial component of the German government's efforts to modernize the country's industry and aligns with the European Union's broader strategy to catch up with global AI leaders. The European Commission has unveiled plans to invest $20 billion in constructing AI data centers, aiming to secure up to 100,000 GPUs with a 35% state subsidy. Deutsche Telekom is also collaborating with SAP, Ionos, and Schwarz to seek EU support for building such a center in Germany.

The collaboration between Deutsche Telekom and NVIDIA extends beyond infrastructure, encompassing the development of AI models in local languages and support for pharmaceutical companies in drug discovery. NVIDIA is also partnering with Mistral, a European AI firm, to create AI computing solutions utilizing 18,000 of NVIDIA's latest chips. This multifaceted approach underscores the commitment to fostering a vibrant and competitive AI ecosystem in Europe.

The AI cloud platform is expected to have substantial implications for Germany's digital sovereignty and technological competitiveness. Investments in strategic AI infrastructure are central to the country's innovative strength, paving the way for Germany to become an industrial hub that rapidly implements AI. The construction of large-scale data centers is crucial for accommodating the shift towards AI, and the partnership between Deutsche Telekom and NVIDIA represents an important step in this direction.
